With over 20 years in media production, Brian Schilling is a Chicago-based photographer, cinematographer, and director dedicated to crafting compelling visual narratives. As the founder of Schilling Film and Left Fields Studio, he delivers high-quality content for brands and organizations, including Whirlpool, Pritzker Architecture Prize, Harley-Davidson, International Motors, and the University of Chicago Cancer Research Fund.
Brian’s journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema & Photography and a minor in Fine Art, grounding him in storytelling, pacing, and visual composition. Early in his career, he built a reputation as a high-end commercial photographer, mastering the art of working with celebrity talent, business leaders, and diverse crews.
Transitioning into cinematography and directing, Brian has led productions across commercial, branded, and cinematic projects. Known for his adaptability and collaborative approach, he thrives in dynamic environments; balancing creative vision with technical expertise while keeping crews and talent in a seamless flow.
An early adopter of innovation, Brian explores generative AI, music production, and new storytelling methods to push the boundaries of creative media. He also works closely with multiple youth organizations and supports the growth of young talent, helping the next generation of creatives develop their skills and confidence.
